Labourd Rally 2026: 48 years of mud, speed and Basque Country

3 April 2026 icibiarritz 2 min de lecture

This weekend, the Basque hills are rumbling. From April 3 to 5, 2026, the 48th edition of the Labourd Rally sets up around Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle for two days of spectacular off-road racing. Organised by the ASA Côte Basque, it is one of the most popular sporting events in the Basque Country — and a great day out for families and friends alike.

A route through the most beautiful Basque villages

With a total of 334 km including 116 km of special stages, the route winds through breathtaking scenery: Ahetze, Ainhoa, Arcangues, Souraïde, Espelette… The names read like an invitation to explore. On the programme: 12 special stages spread across 5 sections — including the classics Ziburuko, Urloa, Kantia, Ostalapia and Uzkain — promising intense driving on unpaved tracks, the rally’s speciality.

110 crews, from buggies to production 4x4s

This year, 110 crews have entered the event, which counts as the 2nd round of the French All-Terrain Rally Championship. All categories are represented: the spectacular 4-wheel-drive buggies (T1A), 2-wheel-drive (T1B) and production-style 4x4s (T2). Brands such as Nissan, Mazda, Peugeot, Renault and BMW go head-to-head in an atmosphere that blends pure adrenaline with typically Basque conviviality.

Where and how to watch the rally?

The start and service area is based at Lac de Saint-Pée-sur-Nivelle, opposite the Kantia circuit. This is where the crews prepare, the mechanics work their magic, and the atmosphere is most electric between stages. To watch the cars in action, simply head to the signposted spectator zones along the special stages. Make sure to check any road closures in the villages on the route this weekend.

Free entry for spectators. A perfect outdoor outing — nature, sport and fresh air — whether you are with kids or passionate about motorsport.
