The Candlelight format returns to the Casino in its seasonal version. After Vivaldi in the autumn, it is the Christmas repertoire that goes by candle — an exercise that narrowly escapes kitsch thanks to the venue, whose Art Deco volumes do much of the atmospheric work.

A mid-December outing that breaks the pattern

At that time of year the Biarritz calendar fills with markets, children’s shows and office dinners. An hour of music by candlelight is a welcome counterpoint — and one of the few December propositions that demands neither organisation nor an outsized budget.

The local tip

Capacity is deliberately limited in this format, and December dates are the first to go. Book from the moment sales open, and arrive early: seating is usually unallocated within your chosen category.
