Biarritz enjoys a mild oceanic climate with mild winters and cool summers. Average temperatures range from 8°C in winter to 22°C in summer. Rainfall is frequent but brief, especially in autumn.
The seasons
Spring (April-June): Changeable but mild weather. Ideal for exploring the town without crowds. Good surf with 1 to 1.5 m waves.
Summer (July-August): 20-25°C, 8 hours of sunshine. Peak tourist season. Relatively calm sea at the Grande Plage.
Autumn (September-November): The best surf season. Waves of 1.5 to 3 m. Water temperature: 18-20°C.
Winter (December-March): Powerful waves for experienced surfers. 10-15°C. Quiet and authentic town.
Surf conditions
Biarritz has 6 km of coastline with spots for all levels. The Côte des Basques is ideal for beginners. The Grande Plage suits intermediate surfers. Milady and Marbella welcome more experienced surfers.
