Frankie and the Witch Fingers are one of those bands you have to see live to understand. The records give you an idea; the stage gives you the rest: songs that accelerate to breaking point, an implacable rhythm section, and a relationship with the audience closer to punk than to contemplative psychedelia.

The Basque coast is not overloaded with demanding rock dates, and that gap is precisely what the Atabal fills. This is one of the three or four autumn bills that on their own justify the trip out to La Négresse.
